Cutter

*The air in the room began to swallow her as she lay on her bed, clinching the cover over her face.*
"Charlotte, get down here right now!  You are NOT missing another day of school, miss!"
*
She started gasping for air with each word that her mother screamed at her, her head jerking slightly to the left as she tried to get ahold of herself.  My blade.  The words seemed to ripple over her brainwaves, bringing her a sense of excitement.*
"Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrlotte!!!!!!!"
*Her eyes blinked as the excitement slid out of her body.  She seemed to float through the next few minutes without an iota of cognizance.  She did not even notice the standard look of disgust on her mother's face as she walked out the door toward her bus.*
"I gotta wait on you EVERY DAY, Charlotte Kandel!"
*She did not bother to reply as she walked past the bus driver and a handful of students until she reached the back of the bus where she sat and crouched down in her usual seat so that her head could not be seen in the bus driver's mirrors.*

*People...books...papers...pens...more people.  The day seemed to flash by in a blur and all she could think of was her blade.  If I could just get home and...and...cut...

Charlotte exhaled enough breath for anyone around her to have thought that she was expelling smoke from her lungs.  Her head against the wall, legs stretched out across her bed, and her face toward the ceiling, she let her thoughts drift into nothingness.  The drops of blood on her inner left thigh seemed to baptize her as they trickled down onto the bed sheet.  Ah, what one simple cut can do.  Just one...Just then she snapped her head upright and looked out the window to see Eric with his crush.*  "What the hell is he doing this time?  Stupid kid."
