RE: Caprice

David turned to her, noting her attitude and actions, and raising both brows in surprise.  He had never had a client act quite like this before...

It was then that his sixth sense started sending tingles down his spine.  The room, for a moment, darkened and hues of light red filled the space.  They all seemed to be draining toward the woman in his room, and he found himself wondering why.  Was it dangerous to her?  Did this bode harm was coming her way?  He didn't know.

Chalice's words reached David as he looked at her, his vision clearing.  He swayed, barely, as something else rumbled through his spirit, and flexed his right shoulder a bit.  His birthmark was still a bit tingly.  "I believe I can handle that, miss.  Lay down, on your back, and close your eyes.  Also, tell me your name."  He still kept his professional manner as he spoke to her, although it had become almost impossible to do so.  He found himself currently thanking God his outfit was so loose and flowing, and his shirt somewhat oversized.   It was serving him well at this moment.

*Chalice obediently lies down on her back, folding her arms under her head, which she turns away from the therapist. As she closes her eyes, she sees her silly French teacher asking her for her name on the first day of school. This time she does not allow the teacher's attractiveness to trap her words in her throat.* "My name is Chalice...like a fancy cup...not to be gulped from but sipped...slowly." *This she says aloud and opens her eyes.*

David suddenly found himself wanting to drink from Chalice's cup much more than he should have.  As a matter of fact, he was starting to get very...hot...in regards to her overall, and to him, that seemed to be less his fault more an influence from outside.

Somehow, during this time of thinking, he had walked over to table and had laid his hand on Chalice's chest, right over her heart.  The sudden sensation that ran through him brought him back, and his eyes widen slightly at what he was doing.  It wasn't so much wrong as it was out of place, and not like him...at least, not until the end of his session.  It as a closing gesture.   But this...this was something else.  Looking down at her, he heard himself say this:  "I can free you, if you wish.  Or sip from your cup.  This is, after all, all about you."  It was a true statement...but it was also one that he wouldn't have normally made.

*At the touch of the therapist's hand, Chalice's body awakens, something she cannot hide since her chest is bare. Trying to maintain a level of decency in this embarrassing situation, she looks into his eyes and fights to keep the lust out of her voice.* "Um...how will you...free me?"

David's hand did not move, and he could feel the warmth growing under it as the energies within him began to react to the contact with Chalice.  It was as if she were drawing out a part of him that was going to take this session from one form of therapy to an entirely different extreme.

"I...will use my key.  When your lock is ready to be open, that is."  Again, the words flowed from him very smoothly, as if they had been waiting there already.  His head felt a bit hazy and his eyes began to change color, just a bit.  Small motes of green were appearing in his iris, and he could feel an almost primal urge running through him.  He wanted Chalice...he wanted her now.

*He will use his key? What kind of...Chalice turns to the therapist and listens more intently. Just then she notices a change in his eyes.* "Who...who are you?" *Suddenly uncomfortable, she sits up on the table and looks around for her top.* "I...I don't think I need a massage today." *Unable to spot the top, she begins to show signs of panic, her eyes widening, her upper body quickly twisting from left to right as she visually scours the room.*

David blinks once, surprised by Chalice's reaction while at the same time feeling his head clear a bit.  Stepping back, he lifts both hands in a gesture of showing he meant no harm, and prays to God that his arousal isn't as evident from his lower regions as he feels it is.   "I'm sorry, miss.   I didn't mean to startle you."  He then feel something rumbling through him and slowly lowers his arms, whispering just loud enough for Chalice to hear.  "I would be disappointed...if you left.  But I won't stop you."  Lowering his head a bit, he finds himself wondering at the changes going on in him and why they are happening, his mind racing along even as he starts talking again.  "Take a breath.  Gather yourself.  Think before you act."

*With no sign of the little girl in her voice, Chalice speaks to the therapist as she grabs a sheet from a nearby cart and covers herself.* "You never answered my question. Who are you?"

David lifted his head and looked directly at Chalice, their irises now completely green. "I am a massage therapist, for the most part. There is more to me, yes...but I am a therapist." He then took a step toward her, continuing to speak. "I find I am less curious about why Mr. Kain invited me and more curious about why he invited you." He stopped a foot from her, his hands clasp behind his back, more in control of himself now but still struggling inside at the...hunger...he felt for her. "My name...is David Borne."

*KAIN!!! You psychotic freak! She hops down off of the table and wraps the sheet around her tightly. Why did I not recognize his voice before? Why?! I have GOT to get off of this ISLAND! She places her hand on David's arm and applies just enough pressure to let him know that she wants to get past him.* "Do excuse me, Mr. BORNE." *She looks at him as if accusing him of conspiring with Jacob Kain against her.*

As soon as Chalice touched his arm, David whirled her, turning her suddenly so that her back was to him.  Both his hands rested quickly against her shoulders, and he started massaging her deeply, letting the power within him flow out through his hands to calm her.  "Listen to me.  I don't know what you're thinking, but I'm just surprised as you are.   Imagine how it felt to see a woman that was rather rude to me on the phone as my first appointment for the day."  He said it candidly, continuing to work her shoulder, and the spoke softer.  "Something is going on here.  Maybe you should stick around to find out."  He then let her go, slowly, but didn't move.   "I know I will be."

*Once David stops talking, Chalice walks toward the door.* "I...I...have to go." *Careful not to turn around and look at David, she opens the door and leaves.*

M. Mathieu Castor tugged at the bottom of his vest and straightened his tie. A tall man, he looked good in a suit, and knew it.

* Stirring a solitary cube of sugar into his espresso with a tiny spoon made specifically for the operation.*

"I drink too much coffee," he said. "If such a thing is possible."

* Replacing the cup onto the saucer and the saucer onto the brass counter.*

"Thanks, Chief."

Castor was the only one who called the graying man pouring drinks behind the bar 'Chief,' and probably the only one who ever could. To the rest of the world, which is to say Caprice Island, the slight, but muscular man was known as Mr. Robertson. He had a first name, but no one used it. This was always so.

Castor, however, knew that Mr. Robertson derived a particular pleasure when addressed as 'Chief' by him. This is why Castor did as much. It was, after all, his métier: more than a job, career, and profession. It was a talent; bringing discreet distractions to both rich and poor, each exalting his or her private life.

"Caprice Island."

The irony was not lost to him. In his role as assistant manager, he was indeed the presence at The Isle, at once ear, shoulder, back, and legs to employee and customer alike. When someone wanted something -anything- he was prepared and able to deliver, seemingly without effort and certainly without attraction or embarrassment to the client.

It was all illusion.

"Time to get after it, Chief." *putting a small gold piece on the bar.*

"Shall we see what this day brings?"

*Simultaneously pocketing the coin and wiping the counter top, Mr. Robertson whispered a smile.*

*On the way back to her room, Chalice notices an establishment that seems to have appeared out of nowhere. Why haven't I noticed this bar before? I have GOT to get off of this island! Not wishing to ponder the sudden appearance of this bar any further, she pulls the sheet around her tighter and quickens her steps.*

What's this?

"Calysta"

"I just saw Mlle. Zaire rocket past here, looking like she saw a ghost. I was wondering if something happened and in her haste either forgot she was staying at The Isle Hotel, or more likely, came up a different route on the bar side and didn't recognize it. She may be misoriented."

*Checking his agenda. Hmm Mr. Bourne*

"If that's the case, please bring her back, if she chooses. In the event, Mr. Robertson could perhaps make her a cup of tea."

*Makes a note to personally check with Mlle. Zaire and M. Bourne concerning their accomodations.*

"Tatiana."

"Please have the staff put something a little extra special in Mlle. Zaire's room when they make it. Thank you."

*Glances at agenda:
  Check on new guests.
  Interview pool staff.
  Distraction for room... 2300 tonight.*

*Chalice suddenly hears footsteps behind her and assumes that the massage therapist has followed her.* "Goodday, Mr. Borne!" *She yells without facing the person.*

"Miss Zaire!"

*Calysta comes up from behind and stops Chalice.*

"I'm so glad I caught you."

*Calysta briefly explains her presence.*

"So, since I wanted to make sure you were OK, I came after you. Now it's up to you, if you would like to come back to The Isle Hotel with me or I will leave you. Whatever you like, of course, I am at your service."

*At the hotel Castor opens a business envelope addressed to him.*

From Mr. Kain, I wonder what he wants. *Reads the note inside, looks at the plane ticket included.*

"Chief, I have to leave immediately. Look after our guests, especially Mademoiselle Zaire. Oh, and call me a cab, please."

*A short time later, Castor descends the stair case with a suitcase and carry-on. The cab waiting, he steps in.*

"The airport please."

*As the taxi drives off, Castor takes one look back at the hotel. Upon turning he sees Chalice and Calysta.*

"I doubt I will ever see her again."

David set quietly in the massage room contemplating the various things that had taken place. He wondered why Chalice was here in the first place, why Mr. Kain had invited her and himself here at the same time, and why he had had such a strong...reaction...to her. Something within him felt good about that last part, but at the same time something within him was telling him that this was terribly wrong somehow. He had to get to the bottom of it.

He had a few hours to go before his next appointment. Lifting a leather case about 2 1/2 feet in length from the countertop, David exited the room and went in search of answers. Perhaps it was time to stir things up.

***********************************************

Having noticed Chalice and another, unfilmiar female in the distance talking, David moved out of site as quickly as possible. He watched as Chalice started away from the other woman, something about her mannerism being a bit...sheepish, perhaps? What was that all about?
Perhaps following her would lead to some new information that could be useful to the both of them. And if not the both, him, at least.

Moving from his position of cover, David followed after Chalice at a distance, careful not to be in to much of a hurry, but nevertheless keeping pace with her.

*Although she feels foolish, even childish, for doing so, Chalice runs, ignoring the stares of those she passes. She does not stop running until she reaches her hotel room where she hides in her bed, her cover pulled tightly over her head.*

*A cab pulls up at the front entrance of 'The Isle' hotel. A well built and smartly dressed man steps out as the doorman opens the entrance. In sudden recognition, the doorman's face lights up with a smile.*

I never thought we would see you again M. Castor.

Neither did I, but it's good to be home, replied Castor. *Muses: I wonder what happened to that charming Ms. Zaire. Never seemed to be able to get her off my mind.*

It's been such a long time. How is the place, and what about Mr. Robertson?

I'm afraid I have some sad news, answered the doorman.

What's happened, Zeus?
*Zeus, the doorman, opens the door and looks Castor in the eyes.*
I'm sorry to have to tell you that Mr. Robertson is dead.
*Castor's mind seems to be blinded as he takes this in.*
What? When? How did it happen?
You'd better sit down, I'll get Calysta, replies Zeus.
*Castor slowly walks to his office and finds himself in his chair at his desk without remembering coming in.*
*Zeus says to himself, "I'd better track down Ms. Zaire, too. She will have something to say about this."*
