I'm sitting here listening to the rain beat against my house, a perfect scene for reading an Octavia Butler book. Knowing that there will never be another of her masterpieces saddens me, so I Googled her name and found this quote:
"Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be lied to. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery." -Octavia E. Butler
You are truly missed, Ms. Butler.

Truly a wise spoken woman and highly creative author. That last book of her's...man...I don't think I've ever read anything that I've enjoyed as much. Even Dean Knootz, and I love his work!
